Here’s How I Spend Less Time Reading And More Time Doing

For people like me who are dyslexic, it takes extra time to read articles, blog posts or emails. That loss of productivity and time can’t be brought back.

As a business owner, I can’t afford to let that happen. My time is probably my most important resource! To address this issue, I’ve been using my computer to read out emails, blog posts and news articles.

In fact, after years of doing this, I have developed an average reading speed of 400 words per minute. How did I get to this level?

I’m using an intelligent text-to-speech audio reader called Speechify.

What is Speechify?

Speechify is designed to help people with dyslexia, ADD, concussions and other people with reading disabilities.

The founder himself is a dyslexic who loves reading. He built Speechify after noticing that most text-to-speech applications were not intuitive enough or they were too difficult to configure.

This app is also perfect for productivity fanatics who want to read faster, retain more information, and save time. With Speecihify, you can read through data three times faster than normal reading.

You have the option to listen to the content at normal speed or play it at 1.25x, 1.50x, 1.75x or 2x.

If you’re not a native English speaker, no need to worry. Speechify has a multilingual support feature where you can switch from American, British, French, Spanish or Chinese voices.

How it works

Speechify has a smartphone app where you can import ebooks and other reading materials so you can read them while you’re working out, on a commute or cooking dinner.

Using Speechify is pretty simple.

Download the app on your smartphone or Mac, highlight the text you want to read, hit the button on your toolbar, and Speechify will read it out for you.

Pretty easy, right?

There’s more…

Another really cool feature of Speechify is scanning physical books so you can listen to them on your smartphone.

Aside from converting digital resources like ebooks and PDFs, you can use the Speechify app to convert books into an audiobook.

All you have to do is take pictures of each page, upload them on your file library and start listening. It’s that simple!

The software uses deep learning to have the best voice possible so it’s easier for users to listen and comprehend any text.

User reviews shares that Speechify “lets me get through a number of my favourite Medium articles, books, and other pieces of content during my commute via the send to phone option.”

Give it a try!
